Pickleball, invented by three enterprising dads on Bainbridge Island in 1965, is the fastest growing sport in America.
Pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton played on a badminton-sized court with a net about two inches shorter than a tennis net. Because of this, you are closer to your opponent(s), making Pickleball great for socialization on and off the court.
Pickleball is played with a plastic pickleball and a paddle a bit larger than a ping pong paddle. It can be played as singles or doubles.
The sport is booming for several reasons: It’s easier on the body than traditional tennis and is a lot easier to pick up. While most racquet sports require hours upon hours of lessons, the basics of Pickleball can be learned in one outing, allowing you to play with your friends right away!
It is a fast-paced sport that takes advantage of your quick hands and reflexes. It can also be very strategic – often likened to a chess match on a court!
Pickleball is also a great cardio workout and is fun for all ages from young children to seniors at all skill levels. Whether you’ve been playing racquet sports your entire life or you’ve never picked up a paddle before, Pickleball brings the fun for everyone!!
